Ticket Agent
Ticket agents operate our point of sale systems in our ticket booths and remote locations. Basic computer and math skills are required. Duties include but are not limited to:

Greeter
Greeters are the face of Shoreline. They are the means of drawing potential customers to Shoreline kiosks. It is important that a greeter can quickly learn the daily operations of Shoreline and also possess a general knowledge of Chicago. The duties of greeters include, but are not limited to:

Marine Crew

Captains
U.S. Coast Guard Certified Captains operate all Shoreline vessels. In order to be considered for the Captain position, applicants must have a 50 or 100 ton license. In addition to this, captains will be expected to have management skills to delegate responsibilities to crew members. Captains are the highest authority on board and are responsible to uphold the safety of crew and passengers. The must demonstrate the ability to maintain the operational standards set forth by senior captains and Shoreline management.

Deckhands
Deckhands assist the Captain with operating all Shoreline vessels. They are required to undergo specific training and serve on a probationary status while their aptitude is assessed. Deckhands maintain the safety and appearance of the vessels. Specifically, deckhands are expected to meet minimum physical requirements, be familiar with the location of all equipment on board the vessel and demonstrate the ability to respond to emergency situations. Additional drills and training will be performed in a pre-set timetable with the expectation of the position of senior deckhand being obtained.

Docents
Note: All docent positions are currently filled.
Docents give a live narration of ShorelineŐs 60 and 90-minute tours. Docents are required to undergo deckhand training as they are considered Marine Crew. It is important for a docent to have excellent public speaking skills and to be able to quickly learn the required information given on the tour. It is especially desirable for a docent to have qualities that would allow them to improvise during a tour in addition to conveying accurate information in a way that proves they are more beneficial than a recording. In other words, be entertaining.

Bartenders
Bartenders are responsible for serving refreshments to passengers on board and alcohol to those legally of age. They are also responsible to the general upkeep of their work area and to report to the bar manager regarding inventory needs and shift issues. Bartenders must undergo and complete certain safety training as they are considered Marine Crew.
